Hello friends! I'm still breathing and am going to try to get back to a regular blogging schedule soon. Hope you are all amazing! What do you think about Lauren Bush's wedding dress as featured in Vogue? (Designed by father-in-law Ralph Lauren, natch). According to People "Lauren says [the dress] 'isn’t Victorian exactly. I wanted something modern as well, so there is the high-necked collar and puffed shoulders with the large open back.' The top layer of the dress was made of tulle in antique ivory; nearly 100 craftspeople spent more than 3,000 hours hand-embroidering the tulle with motifs of flowers and Renaissance-era scroll designs in ivory silk and metallic thread, Swarovski Elements crystals and off-white pearl beads." The bride also wore cowboy boots, fitting considering the couple married in a barn on the Lauren family ranch.

Beyonce also released a video that apparently shows snippets of the singer trying on her never-before-seen wedding gown. The dramatic back looks very Beyonce to me.

How are you? I hope you all had great weekends! I know I've not been a great blogger lately, but life has kind of taken over. Just back into town from a much needed vacay and was catching up on the who-what-wear of Kim Kardashian's wedding, which took place this weekend.

Kim wore (three) Vera Wang dresses when marrying Kris Humphries in a to-be-televised wedding that included an edict that all guests don black and white. You can click here for a wedding sneak peek, which shoes Bruce Jenner walking Kim down the aisle in a strapless Wang. The bride is wearing a diamond headpiece and some really eye popping earrings. (She kind of reminded me of the Lisa in Coming to America for some reason, I think it's the hair/headpiece/earrings combo).

As for the cake? About six feet tall, black and white, and ringing in at a cost of $20,000. The best part? Guests were served from another cake. So, yeah, a big, brash, over the top wedding from a Kardashian. Not exactly surprising.

Book of the Week: Spellbound

What's a girl to do when meeting The One means she's cursed to die a horrible death? Indeed. This is the quandry that faces teenager Emma Conner as she starts over at a posh NYC boarding school. Emma's had a hard time of it and moving in with her wealthy aunt seems like a fresh start, even if she finds herself having to navigate the jungle that is Vincent Academy.

Emma seems on track for starting over until she lays eyes on Brendan Salinger, a wonderfully written teen heartthrob hero in my opinion. Brendan is dark, noble, mysterious, and, well, plain hot. Not surprisingly Emma finds she can't resist him, perhaps a bit more surprising is the fact that Brendan seems interested in Emma. At first. Then he starts running hot and cold--the forte of teen boys everywhere.

While all this normal teen stuff is going on Emma is also dealing with other troubling events--like weird dreams and street lamps exploding above her head. These supernatural events and a mysterious locket eventually send Emma and her friend Angelique on a search for their truth, one that directly impacts Emma's would-be relationship with Brendan.

Sure, Spellbound's subject matter isn't exactly new. Past lives, fated lovers, we've seen it all before, but Cara Lynn Shultz's writing was snappy and entertaining. Plus I found both Emma and Brendan rather enjoyable. A nice, light read if you like a little bit of supernatural (no vampires or werewolves, mind you) in your romance.

The girls were hot on the trail of the truth while A seemed determined to bring them down one by one. Poor Emily, getting all drugged and everything. And then the revelation that what really caused Alison's death was being buried alive! Ick. And I definitely felt bad for Hanna's mom (who will always be Sydney from Melrose to me), but she really should have known better.

If I'm not mistaken the neutral gold brocade coat that the Duchess of Cambridge sported to Zara Phillips' wedding hasn't been seen since the wedding of Laura Parker-Bowles in 2006. Can't be sure if Kate is wearing the same lace dress underneath.

Kate also made the recycling work by adding a dramatic new fascinator and some new accessories that we've seen before--namely her L.K. Bennett Sledge2 pumps and Natalie clutch.

Zara Phillips looks like one of those laidback, happy brides that make weddings a delight. Her dress, designed by Stewart Parvin, was simple and unpretentious just like she is.

I love that Zara added just enough drama with a long veil

and the bling from her tiara and earrings.

The tiara worn by Zara belongs to her mother, the Princess Royal, and is called the Meander Tiara. Originally gifted to then-Princess Elizabeth by her mother-in-law the tiara was apparently never worn in public by the Queen and was passed on to her daughter instead. Loving this design!

The dress is pretty, but I was kind of looking forward to a new piece. I guess this is one way not to overshadow the bride-to-be.

I think my tweet earlier was correct and that Kate's nude coloured dress is indeed by Joseph. It looked so similar in fabric and colour to the one she wore in PEI that I figured it must be. Still, I've been stumped on coming up with an actual photo of it.

All About Kate has put forth two Joseph options that, together, pretty much make up Kate's dress today. A dress that I can't say I was a huge fan of, mostly because of the colour:

The Joseph 3/4 length dress is pretty much the same cut, except that Kate's dress features a deeper V neckline with more drape and the fabric (and colour) is obviously different.

The Joseph Athena crepe dress, on the other hand,

delivers where fabric and colour is concerned.

Kate also wore her Jimmy Choo Lovely pumps and that

diamond circular necklace, which I don't think anyone has ID'd yet.

Dylan Lauren was photographed for Vogue wearing the off-the-shoulder wedding gown designed by her father Ralph. All I have to say is that Dylan looks fab and I would totally sign on the dotted line to look like her at 37. Can't wait to see Lauren Bush's dress when she marries Dylan's brother later this summer.

The very in-demand Anja Rubik wed fellow model Sasha Knezevic on Majorca. Rubik wore a custom Pucci gown by Peter Dundas, which featured something called a "mullet-hem" (I doubt that can ever be good) and a lacy piece on top to cover her shoulders. I'm still on the hunt for lighting for pretty much my whole home, so my eye is constantly pulled to what other people choose in homes and photos. Check out these two light fixtures from a San Francisco showhome featured in Traditional Home.

I love this blue Venetian glass number in the beachy living room (and that blue chair too!)

Not to mention this candle chandelier in the dining room. While white chairs like that would scare me to death I do like the whole look. And I really like the Scottish Oak Barley twist chairs. I saw a similar one recently at a thrift store, but I had no idea what I would do with just one so I sadly left it behind.

Book of the Week: One Day

I had never heard about this book, or how its being turned into a movie with Anne Hathaway, until I happened upon it in the store. The cover and description appealed to me so I got it, and I'm really glad I did.

Emma and Dexter are at university together and while she has always had a crush on him, he's never really noticed her. University Emma is bookish and caustic and idealistic. Dexter is your typical irresistible bad boy. Until the night of their graduation in 1988 when things--sort of--change.

After that night the book tells us the story of Em and Dex through the next twenty years, but only by showing us the events of one day (July 15) every year. Sometimes Dex and Em are together, sometimes they're not. Sometimes they're happy and sometimes they're struggling. You know, I guess...life.

While you're never really sure if these two are going to end up together after all, and if they do whether it will feel satisfying, the book really isn't about that. It's about a love and friendship that somehow endures for twenty years even when its not always being properly tended and watered. A real connection between two people who may be total opposites, who may not fit, but have somehow found one another and have--in many ways--grown up together.

Anyway, I don't want to give too much away. I'll just say this book made me laugh (out loud) and cry (M, used to this kind of stuff, just shook his head and patted my leg as I sniffled through the hard parts). And now I'm really interested to see what they'll do with the movie. Have you read this book? What did you think?

Duchess of Cambridge Fashion Mystery Solved? Kate Middleton's Nude Pumps

There have been a few items from Kate Middleton's North American Tour of Fashion that have yet to be identified as far as I know. Like the Duchess' textured envelope clutch, her navy suede shoes (not to be confused with her navy Pradas or her navy Manolos--this is definitely a girl who loves navy), the ruffled blouse from Slave Lake and the boucle boxed jacket Kate wore when arriving in Charlottetown.

Of course, there are also the nude pumps that Kate wore when arriving in Charlottetown and again in L.A. Not to be confused with the Duchess' platform nude pumps from LK Bennett--this is definitely a girl who loves nude pumps. There was discussion that the shoes might be the Winona by Rupert Sanderson, but the company confirmed on Facebook that they were not.

They seemed very Jimmy Choo to me so I emailed the company and got the following response:

"We believe that Catherine Middleton is wearing the Jimmy Choo Gilbert leather pumps."

Definitely seems a better match with the heel and all.

What is She Wearing? Kate Middleton on the Last Day of the Royal Tour

And we're back to the navy and ivory, folks.

Kate's outfit today, on the last day of the royals' tour of North America, was pretty and understated, but I don't know I can say I was totally feeling it. I mean, she was wearing crochet. Which didn't look bad on her, but still. Crochet.

Kate's navy and white crochet top is from Whistles--its a few years old--as is her ivory pleated skirt (the Dobby Pleated Skirt currently available at John Lewis). Kate accessorized with the new sapphire and diamond earrings she's been sporting a lot lately along with her mystery navy suede pumps and nude clutch.

Cute, right?

I think these two are the real deal, a very cute couple.

You can tell by the way that Kate looks at William that she just

adores him, which I happen to think is adorable.

So its back to the U.K. for Wills and Kate--who flew commercial BTW--and we can go back to regularly scheduled programming back at the blog. I think I've had enough enough shoes and clutches for awhile.

What is She Wearing? Kate Middleton at BAFTA Event in L.A.

It seems that Kate Middleton has a new colour to add to her arsenal of navy, white, grey, red and beige outfits: lilac/lavender! First it was the Roksanda Ilincic dress that the Duchess wore when arriving in Los Angeles, then the printed floral Jenny Packham De Gournay gown at the charity polo match, and lastly a flowing Alexander McQueen gown at the black tie BAFTA Event to introduce new British talent to Hollywood. I'd say Kate definitely has a new hue. The BAFTA party was attended by everyone from Nicole Kidman and Tom Hanks to Jennifer Garner and Blake Lively.

The belted McQueen gown, which showed off Kate's tiny waist, was beautiful but I think having a bit more sparkle would have been nice. And while I don't know how much the Duchess' dress screamed McQueen it was definitely pretty. Kate accessorized with clutch and strappy sandals from Jimmy Choo and earrings borrowed from the Queen (from what I've heard Kate's other jewelry was her own).

The Duchess' evening shoe choice was pretty killer, I'd say. Similar in style to the LK Bennett taupe heels that Kate had worn earlier in the day, these Jimmy Choo Vamp Glitter-Finish Sandals were appropriately sparkly.

Kate's equally shimmery silver clutch is the Ubai, also from Jimmy Choo.

What is She Wearing? Kate Middleton at Charity Polo Match

William and Kate attended a charity polo match in Santa Barbara where the Prince played--and won--and was presented with a Tiffany and Co. trophy from his new wife. For her part Kate sported one of my favourite looks of the tour, a floral Jenny Packham and open-toed (finally!) sandals from LK Bennett. I think Wills also looked spiffier than he has in awhile.

The floral dress is from Jenny Packham's Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

The strappy, open-toed taupe sandals that the Duchess wore to the polo match are the LK

Bennett Silver Shoe in Taupe, which Kate wore with her gold charm bracelet (a gift from Camilla) and her LK Bennett Natalie clutch, which we've seen many times before.

What is She Wearing? Kate Middleton in L.A.

On July 8th, a day of four outfit changes, Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived in Los Angeles from Calgary to attend a trade conference and an evening reception where they chatted with the likes of David Beckham (sans a read-to-pop Victoria).

Getting off the plane and attending the conference the Duchess of Cambridge was seen sporting the Peridot dress by Roksanda Illinic with nude pumps (not her trusty LK Bennett platforms), the LK Natalie straw clutch, the same Kiki Mcdonough Grace stud earrings she wore earlier with her red Catherine Walker coat dress, and a delicate diamond bracelet she's been wearing a lot lately, which looks like a Diamonds By The Yard deal from Tiffany's. Kate wore her dress without the grosgrain ribbon tied at the waist as shown above.

Later on Kate changed into a bright green

The back of the dress features a V neckline and a row of buttons.

Kate accessorized with the same nude pumps she wore to

Lady in Red: The Duchess Wears Catherine Walker at the Calgary Zoo

Kate has chosen red again, this time for her tour of the Calgary Zoo.

The coat dress, which features three fabric-covered buttons and

a nipped in waist, is by Catherine Walker. I like the full skirt.

The Duchess' coat dress seems a mix of the middle and right designs
above, except Kate's has three buttons and three-quarter sleeves.

Apparently the style is called the Marianne, but I couldn't find the

exact match on the designer's website. Incidentally the late

designer's daughter was also named Marianne.

The suit on the right has a very similar look to Kate's coat dress

I think Kate's red coat dress is a good mix of some of the

above styles that are featured on the Walker website.

William and Kate began Day 9 of their royal tour--and the last in Canada--by kicking off the Calgary Stampede Parade. From quick looks (and admittedly not great images) it seems that the Duchess of Cambridge's fashion is pretty much the same as yesterday--boot-cut jeans, brown suede cowboy boots, white cowboy hat, Western belt with turquoise detailing--except for her blouse.

William is wearing the same thing he did yesterday.

William and Kate look adorable as they watch bull riding in Calgary. I think the Prince benefits from a more laidback look too and the hat suits him! I think the Duchess also pulls hers off with aplomb.

Kate's white and blue blouse features embroidery and scalloped detailing, and is from the Alice by Temperley Resort 2012 collection that was recently shown in London. UPDATE: The photo is pretty self-explanatory but Temperley has confirmed that the Duchess is wearing their Armonia Blouse

Kate paired her blouse with a pair of boot-cut jeans, cowboy boots, the Vinnie Day Leaf Earrings we've seen her wear before, and a Western style belt.

Kate got off the plane wearing a cheery yellow dress, that she accessorized with her Kiki McDonough citrine earrings, and her LK Bennett Sledge2 nude platform pumps and Natalie straw clutch. I do like that Kate has gone for some colour, but I think the dress could have benefited from a belt or a bit of jazzing up.

I don't think it's been confirmed but Kate's yellow dress looks a lot like this Jenny Packham, although there are slight differences besides the fabric like a different number of buttons and Kate's doesn't appear to have the same pleating. Yet, they do look a lot alike.

UPDATE: Everyone is reporting Jenny Packham so it

seems pretty safe to say it has been confirmed.

William and Kate arrived in Slave Lake, Alberta earlier. The royal couple were supposed to have a day off today, but opted to tour the fire ravaged town instead.

Kate looked chic in the cropped navy jeggings she's been sporting a lot lately (J Brand has confirmed they're the 811 Mid Rise Skinny Jeans), as well as her slingback espadrilles wedges (which Pied A Terre has now confirmed are theirs -- although I still think Kate's shoes look more like the Imperia than the Ivy), a ruffled blouse, and the navy Smythe blazer she wore leaving England at the start of the tour. I like seeing a bit more of a laid back Kate.

Kate was wearing the same Linda Camm belt she has sported before.

UPDATE: 08-07-11 - Pied A Terre posted the following on their Facebook:

"There seems to be some confusion over Kate Middleton's shoes. To clarify there are pictures of her wearing both Imperia (last seasons style) and Ivy P (this seasons style). On Day 6 the royals find themselves in Yellowknife where, among other activities, they were presented with Canada jerseys and William participated in a street hockey game (the Prince was apparently held scoreless). Not sure what the message is with those shirts...I guess Kate is No.1 and William is second-in-line however you slice it?

Kate's dress is the Bullet Dress by Malene Birger, which I think is now sold out at Selfridge's. The tasteful dress is made of a silk mix linen fabric and features a muted green waistband, three-quarter sleeves, strong shoulders, pleating detail on the skirt and a high, rounded neckline.

Kate accessorized with her oft seen LK Bennett nude platform heels and that mystery nude clutch. I'm pretty sure her earrings are the Kiki Mcdonough Citrine Drops.

Kate Middleton's Day 5 Style: Navy Trench, Jeggings & Arrival in Yellowknife

Following the cream and navy McQueen that the Duchess wore earlier in the day she went through quite a few outfit changes. First Kate changed into a pair of still unidentified black jeggings (they look like they have no pockets) and a navy trench she was seen wearing in 2008 (a good chance its the Jinan Trench from Ted Baker).

On Kate's feet were her slingback espadrilles and at one point she was seen watching William's seaplane maneuvers with a red scarf tied around her neck and her personal camera in her hand to catch her husband in action.

William and Kate then participated in a friendly dragon boat race (Wills won), for which Kate kept the jeggings and traded in the trench for a Nike windbreaker. On her feet Kate wore the Sebago Taupe Bala Deck Shoe. The Duchess also changed out her diamond-and-sapphire earrings for her Kiki McDonough citrine drops. Kate wore her hair back in a ponytail for most of the day today, but with the rain and drizzle you can really start to see her natural curls coming out.

Hair tamed and back in a dress (or skirt), Kate and William touched down in Yellowknife. The Duchess was back in the navy pumps and trench she was wearing earlier in the day, hair groomed to glossy perfection.

I definitely liked Kate's McQueen from the morning, and it was fun to see the Duchess in a pair of actual pants, but there definitely a lot of navy in her waredrobe yesterday. A classic and classy colour for sure, and it suits Kate, but I would die of happiness if she would go for a bold shot of colour one of these days (like some Christopher Kane neon? I. would. die.)

Kate Middleton appeared in Charlottetown, PEI today wearing a cream 20s-style nautical-inspired knit dress that has been reported as a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The dress features navy stripe detailing and a necktie and Kate accessorized with what looks suede navy pumps (perhaps Rupert Sanderson?) and the diamond-and-sapphire earrings she's been wearing a lot lately.

I like this look on the Duchess, it's still conservative and appropriate but a little bit different too.

Seems to me that I usually like what Kate wears when she's in McQueen (like that to-die-for white coat dress from the Trooping of the Colour). Eagle eyed bloggers recall that SJP wore a navy version of the same dress in 2006 to a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Today Kate chose another blue Erdem lace dress, this time the Jacquenta from Pre-Fall 2011. The dress is definitely attractive, but I'm thinking a bit too similar to the Erdem Cecile that Kate wore when landing in Canada. While blue is appropriate for Quebec (the province's colours are blue and white), another colour would have probably made a bigger impact. What do you think?

Monaco Royal Wedding: Prince Albert Weds Charlene Wittstock

When you're marrying the son of Grace Kelly, one of the most iconic brides of all times, choosing a wedding dress has got to be a stressful event. I think Charlene Wittstock did very well with her Armani gown, which managed to be both simple and heavily worked at the same time. The South African wore the off-the-shoulder gown during the religious ceremony that turned her into Princess Charlene.

According to The Daily Mail, Charlene's wedding gown "took Armani's team 2,500 hours to prepare, of which 700 hours was spent on the embroidery alone, using 'kilometres' of platinum-coated thread sewn into 130 metres of off-white silk. The gown would have been heavy for the new Princess, as she would have had to carry the weight of 40,000 Swarovski crystals, 20,000 mother of pearl tear drops and 30,000 'stones in gold shades."

I like the fact that Charlene was able to find a bridal style that is quite her own and seperate from Princess Grace (if she had shown up in a Kate Middleton-esque gown it would have been terrible, I think). I also loved the piece in her hair and Charlene, obviously, has one of those bodies that flatters just about anything. That said, I don't think I'm the only one who thinks something seems off about this couple.

I don't like to judge but they just seem so...ackward. And then there's that whole story of Charlene trying to flee just days before the wedding and having her passport confiscated at the airport. Who knows what's true, but hopefully they'll be happy together. Here are some more photos from the Monaco royal wedding:

On Day 3 of the royal tour through Canada, William and Kate participated in a tree planting ceremony at Rideau Hall, a tradition that many a royal before them has participated in to commemorate their trips (including Charles and Diana who planted theirs on William's first birthday). I'm really liking Kate's grey sheath, which is the Kensington dress from Catherine Walker, a designer favored by Princess Diana and who was the designer of the suit that Carole Middleton wore to the royal wedding.

Namely outside the Goring Hotel the day before Kate became Mrs. Prince William and other times before that as Kate seems to have had this dress for at least a couple of years.

William and Kate are set to touch down in Ottawa today at around 2pm, and of course what everyone is wondering is what--or, rather, who--Kate will be wearing during her North American tour. Now that Smythe has already been confirmed the other smart money is on the now UK-based Erdem.

And have you been wondering about the chain charm bracelet that Kate has been sporting lately? At the recent event for the Irish Guard Armed Forces, Kate accessorized her custom navy Alexander McQueen military-inspired coat and matching dress with navy Prada heels, a Anya Hindmarch Marano clutch, a clover pin from the regiment, the Duchess' often seen Kiki McDonough Drop Earrings in Citrine, a hat by Rachel Trevor-Morgan, and the bracelet. Then Kate appeared at Wimbledon in another white dress (this time the layered and ruffled Moraiah Dress from Temperley London) paired with her trusty nude Sledge2 pumps from L.K. A Look Inside Keri Russell's Brooklyn Brownstone

I've always had an affinity for Keri Russell, ever since she appeared in that Bon Jovi music video. Mostly because I didn't know very many stars with hair curlier than mine (Rebecca Gayheart and Minnie Driver excepted). And while Keri does look different these days I think she seems like a cool, laid back celeb.

The June 2011 issue of ELLE Decor features the Brooklyn brownstone that Russell shares with her husband and son. The home's kitchen cabinets are made of reclaimed fir stained an espresso brown. The fridge is a Sub-Zero and Viking makes the range and vent hood. I like the rustic yet functional feel of the kitchen, although I can't say I'm a fan of that Rejuvenation light fixture. It just seems kind of...small.

I like the pine table, but can those wire chairs be comfortable?

I think Keri's palette can rightly be described as soothing. Light fixture by Ochre, tufted ottoman from John Derian Dry Goods, armchairs by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, rug from Shaw Floors and reclaimed side table and mirror by Russell's husband, Shane Deary.

Book of the Week: Spoiled

I had heard awhile back that The Fug Girls were coming out with a book and then promptly forgot all about it (that's happening to me a lot lately - ha). Then I was in Wal-Mart and was attracted to the cover of the book Spoiled. As soon as I realized it was the YA novel by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan I was sold. Things have been busy so I haven't had a chance to post about reading it yet, but if you like the Fug Girls' snappy humor and acerbic wit on their site then there's a good chance you'll like Spoiled too.

The premise of the novel is one we've seen before: anonymous small town girl finds out that her biological parent is a Hollywood superstar. The superstar's existing progeny gets jealous and sets out to make said small town girl's Tinseltown life a living hell. This is basically how things start out for Molly Dix when, after her mother's death, she finds out her father is Hollywood heavyweight Brick Berlin. Brick is well meaning, but often distracted and absent, leaving Molly to fend for and deal with her new sister Brooke all by herself.

For me what set this story apart from others like it is the writing style and the humor. Plus both Molly and Brooke are rather interesting characters and I'm looking forward to the continuation of their saga. Have you read Spoiled?

L'Aviva Home and My Inability to Focus

I think one of the problems on taking on a whole home renovation and decoration project is the tendency to lose focus. If I'm out shopping I'm easily distracted. Oooh that light fixture might work, but wait that rug! Oh, right, I'm here looking for actual chairs to sit on--priorities. And that's how it's been for me lately. There's so much to choose and buy that I'm never looking for just one thing.

When I happened on L'Aviva Home website it didn't much help. I was instantly distracted by all the dizzying possiblities and pretty objects the site offers. The first thing that caught my eye was the Granada Lantern, which I think would look heavenly hanging from the ceiling in my upstairs hallway. Our stairs hug the wall so there's not room for a big, dramatic chandelier, but something like this would do nicely, I think. Plus I love that it would add some great character to the home. What really happened? Wouldn't I like to know!

I think I could have benefited from watching some of the last episodes of Pretty Little Liars before settling in for the premiere last night. To be honest I didn't remember much except that Ian is supposed to be dead. Except, he's not. I think? I have no idea. Really.

I'd like to find out the answers to the mysteries but if I have to be honest I think I enjoy the relationships on this show more. Caleb and Hanna, not to mention Spencer and Toby, are too cute.

But I was wondering two things:

1. Why would Toby sneak into Spencer's house in the middle of the night? I mean, after everything that's happened and getting accused of murder and being house arrest, well, breaking and entering might not be your best option dude. Just sayin'.

Kate Middleton is killing me lately. It seems like every time I blink she's out there waving in a new outfit. Not that I mind, really, it's just hard to catch up. And I thought those two crazy kids were supposed to be keeping a low profile? I can just imagine what it's going to be like when the Duchess visits Canada (they're estimating 40 outfits in 9 days).

But I digress, let's talk about Kate's dove grey coat and matching silk dress, which she wore to the Order of the Garter ceremony today. Both are by Katherine Hooker, the Buxton Dress (according to the designer it is "cut on the bias in Mercury crepe silk satin") and the Buxton Coat in Ash Simla silk. Kate's hat is from Rachel Trevor-Morgan Millinery.

Kate Middleton's grey suede pumps are the Malone by Rupert Sanderson. (Confirmed on the designer's Facebook).

Lily Allen Gets Married...Doesn't Wear Chanel Until Later

Surprisingly singer Lily Allen didn't choose Chanel for gown at her wedding to Sam Cooper. Rather, the recently hitched singer went with Parisian designer Delphine Manivet.

The lace dress and headpiece are obviously vintage

inspired but its not really my taste at all.

Allen does look really happy--doubly so because

she also just announced her pregnancy.

made Hydras by Rupert Sanderson.

I really don't know what this event is about, but I do know that I absolutely adore the white Alexander McQueen coatdress that Kate wore to the event. On a random note, the tartan blanket that Kate and Camilla shared in their carriage looked strangely like my high school kilt.

Kate seems to be into a lot of white/cream recently.

There is so much wrong going on there and too Mother of the Bride-ish. The jacket doesn't even look like it fits. Not the right outfit for a girl who is reportedly newly single (and who didn't see that one coming?)

Princess Beatrice (with beau Dave Clark) also shopped her closet.

Kate recycled another frock at the celebration of Prince Philip's birthday party. This time it was her blue brocade coat by Jane Troughton, which was first seen at the 2009 wedding of Nicolas van Cutsem. [via]

The Duchess updated the look by wearing it with blue hat and a dress that looks like the blue Zara dress that Kate wore when departing from Buckingham Palace the day after her wedding.

Of course, Kate also wore her trusty nude L.K. Bennett pumps. Can I just say that while I like how Kate was able to make an old piece new I'm not really feeling this ensemble. The cornflower blue coat is a bit fussy for my taste and I'm not liking the hat very much. [via]

Later that night Kate wore a coral Stella McCartney that Madonna originally sported in 2008 at the amfAR Gala in Cannes, and which the Duchess bought at a Joseph sale prior to her wedding (according to Grazia, Kate bought the dress for £305--it was originally £1425). While I love a bargain as much as the next girl I can't say I'm feeling this look. The wrinkles definitely don't help.

I do like it slightly better on Madonna.

First off, thanks so much for all the kind anniversary wishes yesterday. Time really does fly and I can't believe we've already been married four years and been together for nearly a decade. For those of you who have been married many, many more years than we have, I'm sure you can relate that married life sure is an adventure. Especially at times like these when we're living between two houses, knee deep in renovations with the finish line nearly in sight. It's been a stressful couple of months, but will be so worth it--or so I hope! And I know I've been bad about not posting house/reno pics but I hope to rectify that soon. Promise.

So back to Kate Middleton and the gorgeous, shimmery pink Jenny Packham gown she wore to the ARK Gala last night. Proof positive that the Duchess can do high fashion just as well as she does high street. I think this sophisticated, romantic choice was just perfect for Kate. Youthful, but elegant. I know I already did a Kate fashion post this week but the numbers seem to show that you enjoy these types of posts so I'll continue on until you beg me to stop!

Kate's ankle-strap shoes appear to be the Agata from fave L.K. Bennett and her pink satin clutch sure does look like this pink Prada box clutch, doesn't it?

Earlier Kate was spotted shopping at hat maker's Lock and Co. wearing a hot pink dress, black cardigan and her now standard wedge sandals.

I believe the fuchsia dress that features a round neckline and pin-tucked bodice is Issa's "Lucky" from 2008. Kate has been spotted wearing this dress many times in a variation of colours. The wedges are L.K. Bennett's Maddox and it looks like Kate was wearing her Links of London Hope Egg Earrings again too.

Book of the Week: Priceless

To be honest, when I received a copy of Nicole Richie's latest book, Priceless, to review I had no idea what to expect. In my experience the books of most celebrity authors aren't that compelling, still, I'm always up for a new read. I guess sometimes low expectations can help when reading a book, because I was definitely pleasantly surprised by Richie's second venture.

The novel centres around Charlotte Williams, a beautiful little rich girl who is more heart of gold than soulless spoiled brat. In a ripped straight from the headlines plot twist Charlotte's father is indicted for embezzlement and fraud, leaving Charlotte to face the wrath of his victims (including a crazed stalker) and pick up the pieces of her shattered life. Charlotte, however, doesn't crawl up into a ball and die. Instead she heads to New Orleans and her former nanny so that she can start over.

I'm not saying this is a perfect book. There are plot points that are far fetched, fanciful, and some that are quite predictable, still, Charlotte struck me as an endearing character. You wanted her to do well considering how the deck was stacked against her and I was admittedly interested to find out what man she would end up with. I found Priceless to be an optimistic read about the things that really matter in life that would fit well in any beach bag this summer.

What Is She Wearing? Kate at the Epsom Derby

I have to admit that I'm strangely fascinated by Kate Middleton (and while I know she's officially Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, I think she'll likely be Kate Middleton to me for a long time to come). For some reason she strikes me as someone I'd like to be friends with--and she seems like a fun drunk. Plus, I'm always interested to see what she wears.

On the weekend the royal family turned out at the Epsom Derby to cheer on the Queen's horse, who came in third. Kate was turned out in a white blazer and floaty dress paired with nude platform pumps. For once her hair was up--and I have to say I'm a fan of this fascinator.

So, the million dollar question is...just what--or who--was Kate wearing?

R.I.P. Espresso Machine

I was woken up yesterday morning by an especially distraught husband. There was much flailing about and, if I was a better wife, there should have been some soothing and hand holding. As it was, the hour was ungodly and I'm not that understanding, so M had to suffer the loss of his beloved espresso machine on his own.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good coffee as much as he does. Still, the loss of the beloved espresso machine didn't exactly move me to tears. I winced instead. With all the expenses we've had lately we didn't exactly need to add another to the list, but c'est la vie, right? Plus, I do love a shiny new toy as much as the next girl.

A Blinged Out Diva

So while M set out to find us the bestest machine our money can buy I hopped online to see what I could scrounge up. Admittedly he was the more practical one in this process. He was looking for a dual boiler (essential for us, apparently) in brass and all other types of things I don't really understand, but I'm sure I'll appreciate once it's sitting on my counter. (And no totally automatic for him. Just like his cars M likes to be able to control his coffee.) While he did practical I got kind of distracted instead. By pretty.

Aren't these machines just so nice looking? Apparently the first is not what we're looking for, but wonderful to look at nonetheless. Hopefully we'll have a machine by the end of the weekend. A weeping husband can really be disconcerting for a girl.

Tony Romo & Candice Crawford Tie the Knot!

The first photos of Tony Romo's wedding to Candice Crawford are out, and while they're a little grainy, you can still get a good feel for Candice's wedding dress. I'm liking the dropped waist, but something about the bodice seems a little...I don't know, much for me.

Romo and Crawford married in Dallas with a reported 600 guests in attendance, including the bride's brother Chace, who will likely always be Nate in my mind. [via]

Candice Crawford's wedding dress was designed by Rani Totman of St. Pucchi and features a V-neckline, keyhole back and a Queen Anne collar. According to People the dress was "made with 100 percent pure silk duchess satin, the dress’s bodice was handcrafted in a floral pattern and accented with ostrich feathers, rhinestones and crystal beading."
